The Lourdes College SPES beneficiaries participated in “Lakaw ta Para sa Bata Tibuok Amihanang Mindanao” which was one of the highlighted activities in celebration of the 111th Labor Day Celebration of the Department of Labor and Employment – Region 10 last May 1, 2013 at Pelaez Sports Center, Cagayan de Oro City with the theme: “Manggagawang Pilipino: Handa sa Hamon ng Makabagong Panahon”.
This event was officially attended by different sectors and groups in the city and Misamis Oriental area namely government sectors, private sectors, Labor Unions, SPES beneficiaries from Misamis Oriental and the 246 children of 4P’s family beneficiaries. There were around 10,000 estimated participants who responded to the invitation.
Before the walk started, an ecumenical prayer was said and it was followed by its declaration to start by Atty. Johnson G. Cañete, the Regional Director of the Department of Labor and Employment – Region 10.
As one of the participants, the Lourdes College Delegates were relishing the moment with happy faces walking through the streets of Don. A. Velez, CM Recto Avenue, Corrales Avenue, Yacapin back to the Sports Center passing again Don. A. Velez St. The activity’s proceeds be given to the 246 children who are at stake of becoming child laborers yearning for their school supplies for the upcoming school year.
