Lourdes College hosts Interschool WIWAG Training
In line with the vision on Student Development of the Bato Balani Foundation, Lourdes College hosted the WIWAG (Wirtschafts-Wochen-Ag) Training last October 25-28, 2016. The said activity aimed to bring new knowledge and skills to the Business and Accountancy student participants of Lourdes College, Capitol University, Cagayan de Oro College, Liceo de Cagayan University, Pilgrim Christian College, Tagoloan Community College and Xavier University.
WIWAG (Wirtschafts-Wochen-Ag) is a German word for Business Week, it is a training concept based on a computer assisted business simulation. The aforementioned event is the first ever-Interschool WIWAG Training in partnership with Ernst Schmidheiny Foundation, Council of Business Education Deans and Programs Head (COBEDAPH) and Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro.
The first day focused on the Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, the Introduction of Bato Balani Foundation and its member companies, introduction of facilitators and participants, company management of WIWAG, groupings of members and the orientation of students according to their responsibilities and functions.
The next three days of the training of the students who were grouped by six to act as the company management of WIWAG who will compete with each other using their marketing and financial skills. Through this, the participants were able to show and practice their previous knowledge and also to prepare themselves for their chosen fields in the future.
The four-day training was a success and enthusiastically participated by the students, and there were fruitful interactions that gave them the opportunity to work well and cooperate with their designated companies. Julie Jean Tolo
